During many
decades of the past centuries some recorders of
church books Latinized some family names.
The German
family names could be found in the records unchanged
for many generations. If the name than disappears
for a gap of many years or decades, look for the Latin
version of that
family name. This is found quite often in church
records, especially if the family name was equal to
a profession name.
